If we haven’t met yet, I’m Joel, the Foundations, Corporations, and Church Relations Officer at Sheltering Wings. I’ve been here for just over a month and I am so excited to be a part of this team. I’m also looking forward to meeting you!
It’s the end of April and there is snow on the ground. The last year has been full of uncertainty, but one thing I know I can hang my hat on is that in Indiana, it will snow in April. The plants around my house are now covered with sheets, drop cloths and tarps to protect them from the freezing weather.
Another thing I know I can hang my hat on, is the love YOU in the church community in our area show those in need. Over the years, this last year especially, I continue to see church step up in creative ways. Ways to get food to people who don’t know where their meals for the week is coming from, ways to provide affordable childcare to single parents so they can build a strong foundation for their family with a steady income, and creative ways to care for our community in the midst of loneliness and uncertainty. The list can go on for a while.
As spring fights to be sprung in this season of rebirth, let us reflect where the body of Christ has and continues to follow in the example of Jesus. There is a lot to celebrate and I am grateful to be partnering with you and this faithful community.
I’ve started to meet some of you and I am so encouraged to see how God is at work through our churches. I’m honored to join you in your work as a partner. We have the privilege to work together to see and be the love of God in our churches, in our communities, and at Sheltering Wings.
While the weather decides what it wants to do, Sheltering Wings has indoor and outdoor service opportunities and events coming up in April and May. Here are just a few:
