Sheltering Wings is a domestic violence shelter in Danville, Indiana that provides emergency housing for survivors escaping domestic abuse. They build stable and independent lives through essential programs offered in a supportive and Christ-centered environment. “Haven Homes has given our clients the opportunity to live a stable, independent life in a community that is not defined by domestic abuse,” said Cassie Mecklenburg, Executive Director of Sheltering Wings. “We are so grateful for this partnership.”
Cummins is proud to partner with Sheltering Wings and RealAmerica for Haven Homes. Cummins is a community mental health center providing mental health and substance use services in Central and West Central Indiana since 1972. Cummins will be providing on-site services with telehealth capabilities for the residents of Haven Homes.

Haven Homes is a 3 story, 52-unit property, built to the Silver National Green Building Standard, offering residents three different open-concept floor plans ranging from one to three bedrooms. All apartments include full-sized, in-unit washers and dryers, luxury plank flooring, built-in kitchen appliances, a balcony or patio, ceiling fans, energy-efficient features, cable hookup in all bedrooms, increased soundproofing, and free in-unit internet service. Other featured amenities include a dog park, playground, indoor creative play space for children, on-site fitness room, community room with a kitchen for entertaining and gathering, bike share program & bike storage, computer resource center, outdoor sports court, and safety features including security cameras.
The official Grand Opening will take place on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. and will begin with a free lunch from Grace Food Truck. The Grand Opening Ceremony will commence at 1:00 p.m. with speeches from the Town Council, Executive Director of the IHCDA, the President and Owner of RealAmerica, Ronda Shrewsbury, and on-site service providers. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony, giveaways, tours of the homes and property, service provider booths, and refreshments.
