Sheltering Wings is able to provide our services on a lean annual budget. One of the primary reasons we are able to do this is because so many wonderful volunteers partner with us!

What do volunteers do?

Volunteers play many critical roles at Sheltering Wings, including: administration (answering phones, preparing mailings, accepting donations and filing), children’s programming (leading prepared children’s activities so parents can attend support groups or classes), mentoring (building relationships with residents and their children), facility maintenance (gardening, cleaning and basic maintenance) and so much more.

If you have a talent, interest or skill and if you are passionate about our mission to break the cycle of domestic abuse, there’s a place for you to volunteer at Sheltering Wings.

Volunteer Opportunities

Groups

Landscaping Maintenance

We need groups to help with landscaping around the Shelter! This can include pulling weeds, tending to flower beds, mowing, and other landscaping tasks.

Maintenance Projects

Help our staff perform miscellaneous maintenance projects in and around our facility to keep it in tip-top shape for our residents and their kids!

Provide a Meal and Fellowship

Bring a meal in or bring ingredients and offer a cooking class to our residents, finished with a complete meal for all! Feel free to stay and enjoy the meal and fellowship with our residents.

Career Training for Residents

Come help our residents prepare for their future career! Help with resume writing, interview preparedness, typing and computer proficiency, and other career-focused skills!

Special Events for Children and Adults

Would you like to plan a special event for our children and/or adults? We’d love to host you! Just organize a game or celebration for our residents. Our residents love when community members come host events!

Resident Welcome Bags

Whenever a new resident comes into shelter, we provide them with a welcome bag to help them feel more at home! We need help stocking our welcome bags.

Individuals

Childcare Provider

If you enjoy playing with children, this is the opportunity for you! We are in need of loving individuals who can do planned activities with the children of our residents. Our residents need childcare for their children when they attend classes and go to work.
