INDIANAPOLIS – Central Indiana-based Sheltering Wings is expanding group training options to help put an end to domestic violence in the community.
“Working with local organizations and local leaders is key to helping prevent abuse in our community,” says Sheltering Wings Executive Director Cassie Mecklenburg. “By understanding the signs of abuse, community and company leaders can not only help individuals currently in need but help prevent abuse in the future by creating a culture of safety and care.”
Sheltering Wing’s current social media campaign #weknowthesigns taps into the often unspoken thoughts and feelings of abuse victims both in their personal and professional lives.
Compassionate employers who address the issue can provide real help to victims. Each year, domestic violence costs American businesses $1.8 billion in lost productivity. Worse yet, 74% of domestic violence victims report their abusers have harassed them at work.
