Sheltering Wings in Danville, Ind., offers gift match and Wish List contest
DANVILLE, Ind. (Jun. 23, 2020) – Sheltering Wings will celebrate its annual Christmas in July next month with a special twist this year: a dollar-for-dollar match, thanks to generous sponsors.
From July 1-14, every dollar given to the domestic abuse shelter up to $10,000 will be matched 1:1. This means financial donations will go twice as far in funding programs that help survivors build the independent, stable lives they deserve, according to Cassie Mecklenburg, executive director.
“This is a special opportunity to double the power of your donation. After months of isolation and recent social upheavals, those donations and the hope they bring are sorely needed by our residents and their children,” she said.
Additionally, the shelter is holding a Wish List Donation Challenge throughout the month. The business, club, church or other group that donates the most items by cubic feet will win a mid-summer visit from Santa. Items must be received by July 31 to be eligible.
Learn more about how you, your business or your church can participate by visiting shelteringwings.org/christmas-in-july. For safety, only brand-new items still in their packaging can be accepted.
Items can be dropped off weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sheltering Wings. Call (317) 386-5056 for more information and drop-off address.
Christmas in July is presented by Hendricks Regional Health.
