This past couple of weeks while Maria’s been out I’ve spent a portion of my days working in her office at the shelter. Right now my office is offsite, along with the other members of the development team, so it’s been fun to be at the shelter working. (When the expansion is completed we’ll all be working under one roof and we’re very excited about that.) While I was there yesterday afternoon working I heard several of the shelter children coming down the hall and a couple of them were laughing. It’s so contagious, isn’t it? A child’s laughter? It’s almost as if it comes from way down….a sort of “belly laugh”. I smiled as I listened, and then as their laughter continued and got louder and louder I started laughing myself. How great it felt, that in the midst of a very hectic and busy day, I was laughing outloud just like the children.
It reminded me of just how good God is and how he has blessed us with the gift of laughter. I hope you take time out of each day to smile and to laugh, just as the children do here at Sheltering Wings. Blessings!
