You Empower Teens to Fight Abuse – Thank you
Sadly, dating violence affects all ages – including teenagers.
With your support, Sheltering Wings empowers local youth to build healthy relationships, spot red flags, and support their peers through unhealthy (and sometimes dangerous) relationships.
Recently, I talked with Audrey from the Teens That Talk youth council to learn more about Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and how these students are working to raise awareness about teen dating violence.
Watch the whole conversation here.
These teens are amazing! You can be proud to support their work in local schools to build respect and prevent teen dating violence.
This month – and honestly all year long – we want young people to understand that Real Love Respects. This year’s theme reinforces that healthy love is built on mutual respect and understanding.
Our Teens That Talk students, like Audrey, know that healthy love is more than just saying “I love you.” It’s showing up with trust, honesty, and respect.
They are sharing this message with their friends at school, through an engaging social media campaign and through the annual Hop for Hope event on Feb. 17.
I am so inspired by these students and their work to build a healthy future for themselves and their friends.
If you have teens in your life – children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends – encourage them to attend Hop 4 Hope Feb. 17 at Urban Air in Plainfield. It’s open to all Hendricks County high school students.
Learn more and sign up at ShelteringWings.org/Teens. While you’re there, check out all the resources for teens and the adults who love them.
Together, we can arm teens with the information and skills they need to build healthy relationships and prevent abuse.
With gratitude,

Cassie Mecklenburg
