It is an honor and a pleasure to join the Men IN Action team in the Coordinator role as part of my duties as the new Prevention & Education Officer at Sheltering Wings. I’ve been here for almost a year and recently transitioned to this role and look forward to engaging men in community and service. I want to give kids, teens, and adults the tools, resources, and confidence to avoid abusive relationships and to be places of safety for their friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, etc.
Men IN Action plans to bring new opportunities and a renewed sense of purpose for our community in 2025. We hope that you can join us by participating in Men IN Action READ on March 13th, where hundreds of men from the community read a book to inspire and teach kids about healthy relationships. READ is one of the most impactful ways that men can engage with youth in Hendricks County. Your participation will make a huge impact on the lives of thousands of children. I would love to meet you there.
I grew up in Central Illinois with sports parents and four brothers who lived for their sports, so naturally, I became a sports kid. I played baseball for 16 years, through college, and became a student-assistant coach at Lincoln Christian University when I blew out my elbow. I initially moved to Hendricks County to serve at Hazelwood Christian Church as their youth minister and for my wife to go back to school for her doctorate at the University of Indianapolis. We stayed here because we really love this community as a place to raise our family.
I joined the staff at Sheltering Wings early in 2024 as a development officer, and now I join the prevention team as the Prevention & Education Officer and Men IN Action Coordinator. I am excited to partner with the men of Hendricks County and beyond to engage our schools, communities, and workplaces to combat domestic violence. We will work to create and foster safety for the most vulnerable and help them understand what it means to be healthy in their relationship with each other and their community.
As we look forward to 2025 and the future of the program “Men IN Action,” I want to look at the markers and characteristics of what makes an action-oriented man. Not a star in the movies like Liam Neeson or Chris Hemsworth, but a man who cares deeply about his community and is willing to give his time, talents, and treasure to make it a healthy, safe, and exciting place to grow up. The Men IN Action committee is looking for opportunities to help men spring into action to make Hendricks County and beyond a safe place to call home.

Men IN Action Coordinator
