Dear friends,
Our community is full of generous people who support our women and children in so many ways. One example is people who donate a car they no longer need. That’s a gift that provides freedom and opportunity for a woman who is working to create a safe, independent life for herself and her children.
Sometimes, though, a car is more than transportation. For one recent donor, it was a special kind of ministry. With this well-cared-for car, she sent a letter that included information about the car’s unique quirks and what the new owner could do to keep it in great condition. Hoping the new owner would have small children, the donor included a CD of her granddaughters’ favorite Bible songs. She also passed along the special cleaning cloth she used to keep the car tidy, and coupons for a couple of free Frostys at the Wendy’s drive-through.
But the most touching gift was a copy of Psalm 91 and a friendly recommendation to commit that beautiful confirmation of God’s all-powerful protection to memory.
That much-loved car is now being driven by an appreciative mother with two youngsters. She was simply amazed to be given the gift of safe, reliable transportation, and is excited about its role in her family’s new beginning.
