Dear friends,
As I reflect back on the past year, I know I shouldn’t be surprised. Sheltering Wings and the women and children who call this place home faced so many difficult challenges, and once again, God has provided. His blessings and provisions are woven throughout the shelter’s history, and yet, each time a resident passes a driving test or a high school equivalency exam, we celebrate His answers to our prayers as though it was the first. Each time we run out of laundry soap or beef, we mention the need to the community, and within days, our pantry is packed. Each time we grapple with funding issues, you step up and ask what you can do to help. His ways are indeed mysterious, and they are wonderful. That’s important, because the need is great.
Every life we touch is so important to us. As the women and children share their stories, our hearts become heavy. We share their tears, but more important, we share their joys as they find protection and hope in the shadow of His wings. We see it every day: Lives are changing!
As we remember our blessings during this season of joy, I frequently pause to give thanks for the way God is at work through your support. At the same time, I feel deep sadness for the women and children whose families are disjointed and whose holidays may not be so jolly. As you pray this holiday season, please remember the families we serve. After all, our work must continue! We praise God that Sheltering Wings is able to provide a safe haven in which families will find love, security, and peace.
In His Service,
Cassie Martin
