Sheltering Wings CEO resigns to pursue new opportunities

Sheltering Wings CEO Maria Larrison announced her resignation from the organization Wednesday, December 5th. Larrison served as Sheltering Wings Residential Manager from 2002 to 2004 and as Chief Operating Officer from 2004 until assuming the responsibilities as CEO in 2007.

“I’ve been with Sheltering Wings from the beginning,” said Larrison. “I’ve had the privilege of seeing it grow from a dream shared by a small group of people to a modern facility covering more than 30,000 square feet serving the needs of abused women and children.”

“The board is very grateful to Maria for her many years of service and dedication to the shelter, and we wish her the very best,” said Greg Hylton, board president. “Her shoes will be hard to fill, but a search for her replacement will begin immediately.”

Sheltering Wings, located in Danville, Ind., provides emergency housing for women and children suffering from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. The goal of the shelter is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment, helping those in need reach emotional and economic stability. Sheltering Wings is a United Way agency.
